La Coruña
Layover Day 1
After a great night out with Eva, we had jobs to do today. Clean the oven and hob, wash the boat down, do the rubbish, replace the engine oil (again) and the filter. A general tidy up and do the washing, I was down to my last t-shirt. And rewire a plug , probably the most fun one. Although, while doing the washing I did go for a shower and the door got stuck. I eventually opened it but shouting for help while stark bollock naked was not my idea of a good start to the day!
Being a camper van owner, I did notice that they also have a very nice, if a little austere, camper van site at the marina. When Sue and I come back , we shall definitely come here. I have been very impressed with the city!
We were expecting wind later that night. The marina also gets a bit of swell. This can lead to the boat jerking quite a lot as it moves around, which is pretty unpleasant if you are trying to sleep. So we got the black rubber things to help with that.
La Coruña has a rich history and from the back of the boat we can see the Castle of San Anton (?).
Being a Friday night , it was a bit livelier. We went to a couple of places for Tapas. Marco was quite excited as one place was advertising Papas Arrugadas. Sadly it was all BS . and also quite expensive. We ended up at a meat place afterwards which more than made up for it. We order viño tinto de la casa and a massive jug of it arrived. Obviously we had to drink it. I tried not to but Marco made me!!!
Back to the marina for a good night sleep…..but hang on. Wasn’t it supposed to be really windy? Hadn’t we stayed in port as we could not get far enough around Finisterra before bigs winds came in? We walked back to the marina through still and balmy air. Bloody weather!
