La Coruña
Layover Day 3 - Layover Day 3
Good advice; Sue posted this to me in a message.
We had a very chilled out day.
We were just waiting for the weather to calm down…. again
As we can see in this map, where we needed to go is all red. Red, as you would expect, is bad. High wind speeds and even higher gusts keeps us in La Coruña. It looks the same for Monday. Tuesday is a bit better, and if we can get around the corner it will quieten down a lot, Allowing us to motor down to Porto on an overnight run.
So, while we are doing maps, here is the map so far.
- 1602 Kilometers
- 4 night sails
- 10 ports
- 6 variable crew
I never expected quite so many days in port. Lucky Marco has been able to put up with me and I suppose vice versa.
The main event today was the arrival of our 2 new crew members. Lukas is the Swedish son of one of Marco’s school friends. He is a surfer and the 2nd youngest crew member so far. He has surfed in many countries around the world and has some great stories to tell. He joins us with his girlfriend Viv who runs a camper van hire company in Portugal, Snailhouse Camper Vans. They just so happened to be surfing about 30 miles north of of La Coruña.
Eva came to see us again, so we all went out for a welcome meal. Lots of stories were swapped and we had a lovely night.
When out in La Coruña I have been very impressed with the Spanish, specifically the attention they pay to wearing masks, hygiene in the cafes and bars. We are all in a bubble now so hopefully we are all OK. I have told Marco if I get sick, I get the front cabin!
