Oeiras to Lagos
Day One
We had a surprisingly restful night in the marina, although there were some hoodlums on jet skis earlier in the night upsetting people, including Marcello. A leisurely get up and breakfast. Quite bizarrely they deliver bread to your boat every morning. Decent stuff too!
As we parked almost directly opposite the entrance we had an easy exit for Captain Marco.

We were actually able to sail!!!! We got the sails up and were making a decent 4-5 knots of speed. Viv popped a seasickness pill and immediately crashed , glad I don’t need them. We put the back down and bravely dangled our feet in the Atlantic. Cold at first but then refreshing. After so long on the motor it was so nice. The lack of noise apart from the wind which is in synch with your movements through the water. So nice!
We had a nice surprise at lunch time when the dolphins turned up. After lunch it was really a case of avoiding the bouys and getting some rest.
Dinner was the excellent chilli, prepared earlier by our resident chef, Lukas. Most of the discussion was about shifts for the night. We swapped the times so that Viv and I were on the 9pm-12pm and then 3am until 6am. Then we waited for sunset and Marco went off to get some rest.
I was hoping for a good one, the cloud was above the horizon and I was not disappointed.

After the sunset it was a long four hours until the end of the shift. There was no moon until after midnight and the clouds were still about and so there was not a lot of light. There were a few fishing vessels about but little else. We were a long way from land and so no data either. Marco and Luca got up promptly for midnight. I stole the some chocolate Chloe had left and went to bed. Up in 3 hours.
