The day before .....
I slept until 9:30am and awoke to whatsapp messages from Sue wondering what had hapened to me. Ugh…. sleep
Marco noticed that the cafe at the top of the ramp was doing a full English.. well why not, we had already had a curry so why not have some more typical english cuisine.
We started prepping the boat for being taken out the water on Friday. Geoff and Lisa were going to help Marcello get it around to the other part of Lagos’ port. The jib came down and was folded up and the the awnings or covers from the back of the boat. We arranged a car hire for the next day for the airport, and then Marco could use it for the rest of the day. He was after a small ladder and tarpaulin for the boat and so wanted to go to a hardware shop.
I made a trip to the chandler’s down by the fishing port. I wanted to get Sam some rope. He does exercises with rope and I felt he may now be ready for some heavier rope, so why not get some here. My toe was still killing me but I thought I would see how it went on the short walk down there. It loosened up a bit so that was good. The shop assitant was quite bemused by my request for 4 metres, he seemed quite interested when I said it was for my son to do rope exercises. He found me this monstrous piece of rope, 26mm thick! That should stretch the sinews!
By the time I got back, Geoff had turned up and we had a couple of beers on board and then set off into a moderatley busy Lagos for our last meal. Apparently is tradition that the person leaving the boat pays for the meal! I think this varies a bit on the person as it wouldn’t be fair on all of our youngsters to feed the fat old blokes on the trip. Anyway, I duly obliged. Geoff and I shared a fabulous big of golden bream, whatever that is… looked like a big fat fish to me.
We walked ( well I limped) back to the boat, said goodbye to Geoff on the way, and had a quick last beer on deck before turning in for the night.
