After spending the morning packing the van we set off to Dorset to Tom’s Field, via the butchers (Uptons) for bbq meats and sausage rolls and a pie!
We were meeting up with Caroline and Chris for a couple of days socializing at the start of our 10 day trip around a few places.
I have recently bought the dark sky app, and the weather was not looking great so we timed our arrival so that we could try to get the awning up in relative dryness. Which we managed to do, with a bit of help from Chris.
Rain was due in a couple of hours so we set off for a walk down to Dancing Ledge. Lots of great clouds! Chris and I clambered down to the pool and strolled around a bit. After a climbing back up the hill through the muddy, prickly gorse we arrived back at the camp and settled down outside to have an early evening (mid afternoon) aperitif to celebrate Sue’s retirement. After about 10 minutes I was hit by a massive blob of rain and the heavens opened.

The rain was ridiculous and we heard via whatspp groups about places in Southampton which were getting flooded out.
We had rapidly retired to our awning, where we spent the rest of the evening, chatting away and eating a delicious fish tagine, courtesy of Caroline, followed by Eton Mess.
We retired quite early and I must admit I had a quick night cap before retiring to read and sleep.
A brilliant idea. I wish we had started a note book about our many years of walking.
I did put comments in our walking books at least we have something.
BUT also put the cost of any pub meal you might have. It will amaze you in the future at the prices
Thanks for your comment. Apart from Ice cream and Fish and chips we haven’t eaten out yet. That will all change in Penarth on Sunday. I think I might record the cost of the fish and chips though
