Driving to Brecon

So we got up after a pretty good night’s sleep and had a tiny breakfast as we would be getting lunch at Andy and Sarah’s. We packed up(we are getting quite good at this now) , plugged in the travel directions to Tesco extra and left Cardiff campsite.

On arrival at Tesco  we managed to find everything we needed. Non-alcoholic treats, fruit and veg, even pants and some natty new shorts.

We then set off on the drive up to Brecon, to their beautiful cottage. Sarah prepared us a lovely lunch of avacado , mozarella and tomato with a pitta on the side.

A bit more chat and then a walk along the River Usk. They are very lucky to have this waterway so near to them. Most of the time we were able to walk in the shade. Quite a lot of people were taking advantage of the cooling water.

Odie, the dog liked a paddle but seemed a bit reticent about a swim. It did all look rather inviting and paddling in crocs was lovely.

We were debating how long to stay. We had “invited” ourselves for 2 nights, but we expected to do a bit of walking, but it was just too hot for that. So the activities were really walking by the river or chatting. So we decided that we would cook them lunch tomorrow and then depart and get the benefit of the air conditioning in the van, during the heat of the afternoon.

After our stroll, we came back and had a non-alcoholic beer and some nosecco, non-alcoholic prosecco, which was almost nice!.

We took some time to get the van in the right position for the night. Andrews drive is a little bit steep apart from the bit closest to the road. So I had to manouvre it on, avoiding the walls and then get it on the ramps to level it up. It worked pretty well!

Andrew went off and cooked lentil burgers and accouterments which were very nice and we chatted away as the sunset and the stars came out. We even saw a few satellites. At 10:30 we sloped off to the van for a good nights sleep, which certainly benefitted from the no alcohol drinks.
