We were taking Sue’s Mum and Dad on holiday to St Ives, so we thought that we would havecl a couple of days at a CL in Devon just on the edge of Dartmoor. The CL was called Holeacre. It is just past Exeter a couple of miles off the A30.
When we booked the site we agreed a 2pm arrival time. We left via Uptons Butchers and the enroute breakfast was a Jalapeńo Suasage roll and lunch was a Marmite Scotch egg. Just to die for ! We also bought Ox-heart and ribcap burgers for dinner, which are probably the best burgers in the world.
We arrived to see our names on a blackboard and our pitch number. The field was nice and flat, and we even had electrical hookup, even if it was about 30 yards away. Luckily I had my long cable with me! We set up camp and then I went off for a walk down the very long and steep hill to the river. Sue has done her ankle in so she couldnt join me.
Afterwards we had a couple of beers and some pork scratchings (from Uptons) and then we cooked the burgers along with our new hack. Tinned potatoes fried… lush. We shared a bottle of wine and retired early to test out the new shot glasses with some whisky.
