A Sunday walk and a burger

We had a good night’s sleep followed by scrambled eggs on sourdough for breakfast.

Because there are no sails on the boat currently (getting put in on Wednesday), the bar in the mast that holds the mainsail,  knocks against the mast when the boat moves which is very annoying. So Marco went up the mast to try to and dampen it down with a big rug that he has around.

Since the weather forecast is not great for the next two days, we decided to make the best of the gorgeous weather today and go on a day trip.

Marco drove us to the beach at Bordeira and we did a decent walk along the coast. It felt like a proper workout as most of the time we were walking through sand. The scenery was fabulous, there were loads of beautiful flowers along the pathway and we saw a guy snorkelling along in the azure waters. The beach had proper soft sand and there weren’t many people on it.

After our walk we went to another restaurant recommended by John, the Micro Bar in Carrapeira. Yes, there is a bit of a theme developing here!!Fortunately his recommendation was excellent. Although we intended to have a light snack, just a short stroll through the restaurant on our way to the toilet block confirmed that we had to have the burgers.😃 Dave and I had the London burger which included tomato, blue cheese, fried egg, bacon, avocado plus a decent burger in a brioche bun. Marco had the Brussels burger which had bacon, chicken, brie, a very nice burger and some bread. A bit outrageous. We weren’t quite sure how they decided on the geographical ingredients for their burgers but we didn’t care because the food was delicious!!

Once back at the boat, Marco gave us a knot tying lesson. First we learnt a clove hitch, then a bowline. Marco popped over to the marina office to see which berth had been allocated for the boat and we stopped at a little bar for a quick drink before heading back to the boat for a snacky dinner.
