We got up quite early and, as planned , moved the boat into Lagos Marina as soon as we could at 9 o’clock while the weather was good and the water was still calm. We left our holding bay in Sopramar and set off on our 200 meter voyage into the marina!!, heading for berth F 30, which we found out later that afternoon was in the Brit zone!! Marco radioed the marina office as we approached the bridge so that they could lift the central section of the bridge to let our mast through. Another boat owner helped guide us in and the whole process went reasonably smoothly. Mission accomplished!
I went over to fetch our dirty washing from the van and then wash it in the marina Laundrette. The dryer took a long time so I met lots of interesting people!! One of the ladies who spends the winter over here said that there is quitea community between the boats and that they hold darts nights, pub quizzes and various other events. Her and her husband spend the winter here and then go back to near Chichester to work in the summer. Sounds good to me! There was a book exchange set up in the corner of the Laundrette which reflected the marina clientele. The majority of books were in English, followed by German and then Scandinavian. Dave meanwhile had a work call with Jeremy to finalise details of his website. Marco did some boat-related planning. We had a quick lunch of rice and halloumi and then headed off to Leroy Merlin so that Dave could get components to make a plug adapter. Then on to Decathlon to get yoga mats and a yoga brick for Teresa’s impending visit in May as well as swimming trunks for Dave. These were a bargain at €4. Sue got a snuggly top as she had rather under-packed the warm clothes!! Marco and Sue then went to the supermarket while Dave headed into Lagos to arrange our toll card payment details.
In the evening it was raining really heavily and this carried on through the night. Pre-drinks was beer and pistachios! Marco cooked some tuna pasta (which was yum!) washed down with a bottle of white wine which had been on board since the 2020 trip!! We then played cards (Shit head – once we’d re-learnt the rules: https://amp.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2008/nov/22/rules-card-games-shithead ) and watched a film. We watched King Richard about the Williams sisters and their tennis career and it was pretty good. That was a late night for us as we didn’t go to bed until 11!! 🤣
