We had a fairly early start start for the trip from Caidz to Barbate. The sea was very calm and there was no wind so we needed to motor all the way. It took about six hours. When we got there we could see loads of tuna nets as this is the speciality of the area.
We also sailed past a couple of places we had previously stayed on holiday at near the Capo de Trafalger. Chiclana de la Frontera and Caños de Mecca.
Once we had moored up we decided to go for a quick stroll into the town and pop to the supermarket for some provisions. Even though this was fairly early in the evening the seafront by the beach was absolutely buzzing. We stopped in a bar for a beer and then got tempted to get some Tapas. We had some fried peppers, salad and ventresca tuna, all of which was delicious.
We then strolled back along the promenade. We saw one band, who were very good and then wondered further along.
When we went in further and there was a band playing Dire Straits who were really good, so we stopped in that bar as well!!! and had another beer or two. There was a large Family group on the promenade who were dancing along to the band and their teenage children appear to be very embarrassed by them. This caused us much amusement. The band continued to do some really good quality cover numbers, mainly by Spanish bands. Eventually the family came up onto the dancefloor and all the teenagers started joining in(as did Sue) It was a really great atmosphere and a very fun evening.
