Despite a colourful dawn, the wind was still very strong and blowing directly into the gap in the in the breakwaters so there was a lot of swell hitting the boat. Marco was a little concerned about the strain on the ropes as everything was driving us off the pontoon. We put an extra line out just to be sure the boat would be OK.
We had planned to collect the hire car at 10 and had done most of our packing last night, so had a fairly slow start to the day.
We walked to the hire office of Autos Aguirre and it turned out we were at the wrong office! Luckily they were able to just quickly drive us around to the correct office. They spoke fluent English so Sue waited in the street while Dave and Marco sorted out the car hire.
We then headed back to the marina, Dave hopped onto the boat to grab our luggage and we set off on our onward journey to Seville with Marco as chauffeur.
We found a little stop-off point on the way (Venta el Pedroso) where Dave and Marco had some really nice and quite huge bacon sandwiches for brunch and Sue had a slice of almond cake, all of which were washed down with a very decent cup of coffee.
When we got to Seville it was fairly tricky to navigate the streets, which were very narrow. We got really close to the hotel but were stuck behind a bus because there was a delivery van unloading extremely slowly in front of it. In typical Spanish style everybody started to hoot their horns in a building cacophony. Eventually we got through and Marco managed to pull over onto the pavement whilst we unloaded and got some decent directions back out of Seville from the hotel, they were very helpful.
We got to our room and it only took Sue about five minutes to run a soapy bath and have a good soak. She had been coveting this for several days!!!
Sue then managed to persuade Dave to go and buy a new Apple Mac air. As previously mentioned, his Mac had been warped for some days as the battery was overheating. Given that there were two days now in Seville near an Apple Store, it seemed logical to get it all sorted now rather than wait until we were in a remote and interesting village until the complete computer conked out and we had to do a total detour off our route.
We struck it lucky because not only was there one of those ‘today only’ discounts with a 50 euro discount, but there was a freebie thrown in. This was a mini speaker which would normally retail at £70. They were both very compact so perfect for travelling.
It was quite a long walk to the Apple Store so at this point we were flagging a bit because we hadn’t had a proper meal all day. Predictably, when you want to find a bar with tapas there don’t seem to be many around. We walked for quite a while before finding anything and then happened upon a buzzing cocktail Bar. The clientele seemed rather young for our demographic but we really needed to sit down!!! We ended up both having a mojito, Dave’s with coconut, and it was really brilliant because it was a very buzzy atmosphere and it was great to be sat there amongst all the youngsters who were counting out their change to get their Wednesday night cocktails!!!
We then went on back to the hotel for a bit of a rest. What this actually means is that Dave was desperate to set up his new toy. He got it all working and was very happy. Sue meanwhile had a bit of a rest, caught up with her messages and played a little bit of her scrabble game.
Now that’s a bedroom to die for. I wouldn’t want to get up. Nice ice cream and once again great photos of great places . Xx
