¡Fiesta!

We set the alarm to 6.30 so we would not miss the sunrise. We strolled down to the beach and Dave took a few sunrise shots. We were the only people on the beach but there were quite a few vans and mobile homes parked there, one of which opened the back doors to lean out and take photos of the sunrise. We also noticed that the mountains behind them were now tipped with snow, which had not been the case yesterday. We went back to the van and had a massive lie-in.

When we eventually woke up again we had a very light breakfast. Dave then did a little bit of web work and I did some embroidery sat by the van in the sunshine.

Later on I followed the sound of castanets up the hill from us in the campsite. Quite a few ladies had already dressed up in full flamenco regalia and we got chatting. I was then offered a spare outfit and hair flower. Dave couldn’t quite believe it when he saw me reappear down the hill carrying a full flamenco get-up!!!

Unfortunately, although the top fitted, the skirt was too tight and I didn’t want to risk splitting it after a big Spanish lunch, so took it back. They offered to dance us some sevillanas but decided to save that for the actual concert!!

At three we ventured down to the bar, had our lunch of paella and dessert and were then there for about five hours to see the band for a while. The atmosphere was great with loads of people dancing in flamenco dress. It was a bit of a wind tunnel though so we eventually came back to the van to warm up!!

We strolled back down a little while later but everything had gone pretty quiet. It did pick up again later in the evening, by which time we’d gone to bed, but it certainly was not noisy at 2 o’clock in the morning. It was nice to see a local fiesta with a lot of people from the area who obviously knew each other well.
