Market and the River

Having put a wash around yesterday, I pegged out a line of washing – one of my favourite activities of course!!! It was great to have the weather and the space for it instead of saving up coins for campsite dryers!

We headed off to the weekly market in Piégut-Pluviers. It was a great market, spreading through several streets and with everything ranging from cheese, charcuterie and veg to linen, clothes and even an upholsterer. It was very well- attended and Fran said that there was a noticeable difference to recent markets as the requirement to wear masks outside had not long been removed. It was nice to see everyone chatting and smiling in the fresh air.

We made a few purchases – Fran got a hanging basket, basil, plants and a tablecloth, I got some bread, cheese and tomatoes. We stopped for a coffee in a café in the middle of the market and Fran popped into the tourist office to submit a form. We then had a quick look at the beautiful church. On the way back we stopped at a local bread shop to see if they could deliver to the campsite in the summer season. We got back and lunched on bread, cheeses, olives and salad.

In the afternoon I had a lovely soapy bath and did some embroidery and Dave had a siesta. Fran started to move to the summer kitchen and Dave S did some bits and bobs around the campsite. We then went down to the river and Dave S went on the paddle board whilst the rest of us went in the rowing boat. That was very idyllic. Dave and I then had a go on the paddle board as well.

After a bit of early evening fizz, served by Fran from the summer kitchen, Dave S kindly drove us to La Ferme du lac restaurant about 29 minutes away for their Wednesday theme night of chinese curry. It was very nice pork and chicken curry with rice. The atmosphere was very friendly and it was quite full. It was run by an English couple who’d upped sticks and started a new venture – they do themed Wednesday nights, fish and chip Fridays and Sunday lunches. We rounded the night off with a port back at Manzac. A gorgeous day all round!

Just our kind of day.
What more could you wish for than a local market.
Washing pinned on a line, Susan you must have been in heaven.
So lovely you are having such a fab time together, it must be great for Fran and Dave to see some friends from home.
