Dave and I did a bit of planning in the morning to decide where our next campsite stop would be then helped with a bit of weeding. We had a coffee and croissant for breakfast. I popped on a final load of laundry, which would see us through to the end of our trip.
The plan for lunch was to go to the local Crêperie in Dave’s Renault 4CV. It purred along past green fields and woods. We felt quite sorry for the car having to accommodate the extra weight that Dave and I brought!! It was a smooth journey nevertheless and Dave S pulled up in front of the restaurant with a very authentic bonjour to the diners sat outside. 😃 Soon, the waitress’s brother was taking photos of the car. We had some delicious savoury galettes and then Dave and I couldn’t resist having a crêpe for afters as well.

The proprietor had got a pizza van as well. This was a new venture for him which he started during the lockdown and was proving very successful. He took this around the various villages from October through to the end of June because in the high season he was needed full time at the creperie.
We went back to the farm and then left shortly after 7 to walk a few kilometres to a village fundraising event in Savignac de Nontron. It was really lovely to see that it was so well attended, with people of all ages mingling in the Salle de fêtes. We were a little bit unfashionably early by French standards and the food was finally served at about 9.30. There was a kir, bread, terrine and gherkins for starters followed by an enormous steak and a very generous quantity of chips. The dessert was a pastry and there was even cheese and coffee. A few people hit the dance floor but we did not feel brave enough to join them as there were not enough people there to hide behind. We met a lady who had recently moved there from Normandy only two weeks earlier and was really liking it. We walked home through woodland but unfortunately the almost full moon was hidden behind clouds, so we had to rely on our phones and head torches. It was great to hear the frog chorus around the lake on our way back. Once we got back, which was after midnight, we went quickly to bed as all that walking and eating had worn us out!
It was a lovely day to round off our visit and my favourite trip of the week was definitely going to the crêperie in Abjac sur Bandiat in the 4CV.
What a lovely day, what a big steak. Gorgeous photos , love the lake. I’m more convinced than ever that Slough is a Dump. 😊 It’s a shame this has to come to an end. Still , there is a lot of world you haven’t covered so all is not lost.
Ben is brilliant , totally loved the music . You should add his musical talent to more of your blogs.
See you in Cornwall. Xxx
