We woke up, after making 2 cups of tea from the last tea bag, decided to go for a walk along the river Mayenne which was right next to the campsite. It was very pleasant and we wandered along for about 30 minutes and then strolled back to the campsite. We were going up to the St Malo area to stay with my old boss from Sun, Sue (Boss). So we decided to have a brunch of oyster mushrooms with sautéed potatoes which was very nice, before we left.
We packed up the van and set off north to our final destination before returning to the UK.
We got to Sue‘s location but I couldn’t quite remember how to get to hers as we hadn’t been there since 2007, so we had to ring her up and she guided us in. It was lovely to see her again after so many years, and she introduced us to her brother Andy who lives in the old farmhouse. She then gave us a good tour around the house that they had converted from a barn ( which was just starting to be converted when we were there last) then we had a long chat over a cup of tea.
We drove into the local town where Paul (Sue’s other half!) has a fishing shop. It also sells guns! We had a very luxurious ice cream from a local Gelateria and then chilled out in a local bar listening to music by The Cult and had a small drink.
By the time we got home, Paul had already started the barbecue fire ready to cook the lamb chops. While Sue (Boss) prepared the rest of the meal we discussed the provenance of the lamb chops, and we were fascinated to hear that the parents (Nigella, Baaabie and Roger) of said chops are still living in the field near the house. So at some point we will have to say thank you for very delicious tender lamb chops, and maybe an apology for eating the lamb chops.
They were soon ready and we had a delicious meal of the chops, potato salad and lettuce etc. Followed by lovely local cheeses and topped off with fresh strawberries from the garden and local fromage frais.
We retired to a bedroom downstairs for the night.
