And we’re back

We woke early in the morning and started to gather our things ready for the journey back to the UK. We loaded our belongings into the van and then went up to the kitchen in the barn for a cup of tea and to say goodbye to Paul. We had a quick chat and then went round to the farmhouse to say goodbye to Andy, who appeared in his dressing gown. It was early.

We climbed into the van, put in the directions for Brittany Ferries in St Malo and set off. It was only about 30 minutes away and we arrived in good time to get in the queue. This time I had checked in detail what preparations we needed to get on the ferry, it was good to see that it was just ticket and passports. We crawled our way up to the check in and went through passport control and drove onto the ferry. The attendant checked the height of the van then sent us up the ramp. As we got there early we were hopeful that way would be one of the first off the ferry when it arrived in Portsmouth. We went up to the top deck and look around at St Malo harbour and then found our reserved seating and settled into the voyage.

Apart from a quick lunch we did very little and just relaxed until we approached Portsmouth and we went out to get some pictures called the city as we sailed past it to the ferry docks.

We did get off the ferry quickly and we’re home just after 7pm. It was lovely to be greeted by Sam and we spent the evening chatting until retiring to our nice big comfortable very large bed.

This was the end of our longest holiday ever, we were very lucky to be able to do it and meet old friends and make new friends. Here is a link to some of our favourite pictures.
