After the debacle of our previous ferry boarding last year we arrived more than 2 hours before the ferry sailed. We got straight through, no hassle and settled in for a bit of a wait until we could board. While chilling I spotted a bloke by another van, could it be Raf? I jumped out and walked/ran to him and there he was. We worked together for 10 years at Sun, including the years we spent in Madrid.
We sorted our cabin and sat down to have our traditional start-of-trip snack of egg mayo sandwiches before heading to the bar.
We met up with Raf and Brian there – so what was going to be a relaxing evening on board turned out to be a multi-beer reminisce about the old days and updates on how all the kids and others were doing, including stories of my dodgy management style.
This made for a very entertaining evening, including a team quiz in the bar (which was called ‘Bar Plaza Mayor’) and a live entertainer who was actually a pretty good singer.
We retired fairly late where I fell straight into a deep sleep whereas Sue was awake for a bit so obviously needs to drink more!
