We had booked flights from Gatwick and now we are both old we took advantage of senior railcards and booked the train rather than drive there. Our taxi picked us up at exactly the agreed time auguring well for a good journey. We got to the station in good time ( we like being early!) and sauntered onto the direct train to Gatwick (rumours that this is going to be cancelled … bastards) and arrived in time for a lovely(ish) full English at Wetherspoons. Sue looked around the shops and as soon as the gate went up on the board we skedaddled to the gate. We were the first there, and seeing we were in seats 2b and c things were looking good for an easy boarding, bag stowing and chilling before take off. This was so until Karen in 2a got on a bit later and needed help with her bags and … so it went on… but she was very pleasant and gave Sue lots of tips for Zante.
After an uneventful flight we landed , with spectacular views of the island, disembarked, got some cash jumped in a taxi which took us straight to the Away Days on the town quay. Perfect!
It was lovely to get back n the boat again and see Marco and Theresa (who we have not seen for years)! Marco had cooked and so we chilled out with a beer and then had a lovely meal. Marco and Theresa were keen for an early night as the previous night they had a gale ( so much for balmy Greek Islands in September!). Sue and I walked along the strip for cocktails in a very posh bar. A Sexy Kraken for her and a Margarita for me…. Happy Hols!. We crept back on the boat and had a reasonable night despite the idiot youths pulling wheelies on the dock and the whistle of the still very strong winds.
