We all got up and had a cup of tea or coffee and had a long debate … should we stay or should we go now. We decided to stay and we may well be stuck here until Tuesday when the wind should calm down.
A cruise liner had moored outside the harbour and hordes of people started coming ashore, all shapes and sizes, literally. We eventually wandered off with a view to getting the tourist train up to the top of the hill to go and look around the fort. At €8 we bought it a little steep (like the hill) and it would be a much better use of the money to spend it on food at the top! So we walked up to the fort and had a good look around. This was built by the Venetians and also used by the British for a bit. It had good commanding views all over the Island.
Then went to a little bar with a fantastic view and a very amusing waitress. She put Marco off having the gyros (kebab and chips wrapped in a fluffy pitta) as he would be attacked by the wasps, so he settled for meatballs which he shared with Theresa. I had carroty cheese pancakey things and Sue had a salad.
We then went back down to the town, past the beach(?) and then chilled out on the boat for the afternoon. Sue and I wandered off for a little shop and a beer. There was a massive queue of youth that was waiting to board the Pirate ship that has been in dock all week. Quite a sight!
Theresa cooked us a lovely tortilla which we ate on the boat and eventually, we sauntered off to go and find pudding… we did well!!
Back to the boat to watch the England match. We missed the 1st 20 minutes and I was distraught to see that we already had a red card…. Not the best running Rugby game but I was chuffed with the match and the result, especially for Stuart and Elaine as they were actually at the match. George Ford was fantastic! So I went to bed happy.
A little bit about the town pier we are moored up on. It seems it is the race track for all the town youth up until about 2am. High revs, wheel spins OMG. Looking forward to a nice peaceful bay with a gently rocking boat to sleep in…….
