Theresa, Dave and I headed out to the launderette with two big washes while Marco washed the boat. We then all met up at our favourite Syvota bakery for an indulgent breakfast.

Theresa gave me some great hints about how to crochet and taught me how to start my first crocheted ‘granny square’, pictured here. I found it very relaxing and absorbing and plan to do some more in the winter at home!
We went out for a drink and Dave and Marco each had a Gyros wrap. Theresa and I had a snack on the boat and we all played more cards. Then Marco had the great idea of sampling some of the cakes from Syvota bakery. So, off we strolled again on the one minute walk to the bakery – no willpower at all!! – and had cake before bed.

Having tried baklava, Dave rang the changes and had a Kataifi – this is also made with phyllo pastry, but in this recipe the phyllo is shredded into thin, hair-like strands. This gives the dessert a different texture and appearance than other Greek phyllo desserts like galaktoboureko and baklava. Specific recipes depend on the region of Greece, but the shredded phyllo is generally wrapped around a sweet filling of chopped nuts, usually walnuts, almonds, or pistachios. Kataifi is then soaked in a sugary syrup, which is commonly infused with ground clove and cinnamon. It’s the perfect accompaniment to a cup of coffee, which he had when he got back to the boat.
Talking about your bakery purchases made my mouth water.
Lovely to know you had a lazy but busy day too.
I’m delighted to see Theresa is teaching you crochet. Doesn’t it look so pretty. Jx🐥
That’s a great total – they must have loved your butterfly buns. 😃 Yes, it was a very exhilarating sail today – a big adventure! xx
