The Caves

After a quick trip to the Sivota bakery to get bread and breakfast pastries, we set off relatively early in the boat and headed to the island of Meganisi.

Our first stop was a really stunning cave. Marco had got the dinghy out and, as it was not possible to drop anchor there, he manned the boat whilst Dave manfully (he asked me to say that! ๐Ÿ˜€) rowed Theresa and I into the cave. As we approached we were delighted to see two goats at the edge of the cave, who seemed to be licking the rocks for salt and enjoying the shade. We were very lucky to have the cave entirely to ourselves as, by the time we left, there were several other craft approaching. When we got inside there were lots of stacked pebbles left by previous visitors – they looked very artistic! We took as many photos as possible in the hope that some would turn out well!

Dave then rowed around the yacht whilst Theresa and I took photos of our unobstructed view of it from every angle. We were pleased with some of the results.

Our second stop was Elia beach – this was a really tranquil bay with only a few other boats at anchor around us. We had a very relaxing swim in gorgeous clear waters. I managed to hold my breath for a bit longer to look at the fish below. We had a lunch of seedy bread with ham, cheese and tomatoes. When I brushed the seeds over the edge there was a feeding frenzy by the fish. Some popped their mouths above water and others were a bright blue reflected in the sunshine.

When we headed off around the corner the wind had picked up a bit so we were able to let both sails up and sail for a little while. Unfortunately the wind was quite changeable so the engine soon needed to be on again. Finally it picked up again and we tacked down the east coast of Lefkada back to Syvota. It was lively enough to get a fair bit of salt on the sails and get the wind through our hair!

Prawns in blankets

We all had a shower and got changed before we had a very nice dinner in a local taverna and rounded it off with ice cream at โ€˜the localโ€™ bakery. They even knew Theresaโ€™s regular order for a yoghurt, nut and honey ice cream! Dave and Marco noticed that the rugby was on in a nearby bar so stayed on for a while watching Ireland Tonga. Theresa and I went back to the boat and I read up on the new couples pairings from the Strictly launch show as they happened back home!

Firstly, there no photos attached to this blog.
What a tremendous day you have had today.
It is sunny but a very stormy wind.
I have not seen โ€˜Strictlyโ€™ but plan to see it this evening.
I certainly went to the caves at just the right time.
Wow, bread ham cheese and tomato, a delicious ordinary lunch.
Where was the basil leaf and wild rocket .
Keep having fun .love Jx๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ
