We had a swim in the pool before breakfast, and then packed our bags again, ready for the onward train journey to Athens.
Panos, the proprietor of the accommodation, drove us to the station and we got the 11.15 for Athens arriving at 12:20. The train runs mainly along the coastline and it was a pretty easy trip.
We eventually got a taxi to our accommodation, which was a small self catering flat near the main attractions.
When we got in the lift, to our great hilarity and distress, the alarm started ringing! We realised that the two of us along with our luggage had put the lift over its acceptable weight limit. Time to diet when we get home I think. 😃😲
We went for lunch at the nearby Atitamos restaurant which was about 10 m away from the accommodation. On the specials menu, they had Kleftiko. This was roast lamb cooked in parchment paper with vegetables, potatoes and feta so that all the juices were contained within the parchment – kleftiko. It was really delicious and we had some nice bread to soak up the juices.
We then headed back to the flat for a siesta and then went out to a local supermarket to stock up on food for breakfast and evening snacks for the next couple of nights.
Dave and I then had a very relaxing evening in the flat with him, watching the rugby (all 3 matches ) and me watching Strictly!!
