Sue(Sue G) and I set off to the station nice and early, dragging our luggage along. We were so early we managed to get a slightly earlier train which was direct to Gatwick, as the one we had actually booked, we would’ve had to change. When we got to Gatwick we only had to wait a couple of minutes until Catrina arrived, anybody would think we had planned it! 😃
We went through departures and then had a lovely meal in Wagamama before boarding the flight to Portugal. Everything went very smoothly and John picked us up from outside the airport and drove us to Praia de Luz where Sue (John’s wife, Sue B) was waiting for us in the restaurant in the apartment complex (Alloro) where we had a lovely, but slightly late meal, mainly fish!
After a good nights sleep, we got up had a lovely breakfast on the balcony in the sun. We discussed which walk to do and decided for a flat one along the beach at Lagos and then up into the estuary to look at the Oyster farm. Obviously we had a coffee on the way and as we neared the end of our walk, we dipped into a lovely beachfront café and had fish soup and toasted sandwiches, mainly fish.
We went back to the apartment and Catrina, Sue B and I went down to the pool for a refreshing swim; it was warm enough to get a bit of a sweat on during the walk. We then relaxed until it was the next food extravaganza at Chiccas, which is run by a very exuberant lady from Newcastle. There I had Tuna belly (more fish) with 9 salads. Probably the tastiest salads I have ever had, especially the beetroot one. Most of the others also had fish, apart from Sue B who had a massive pile of Vegan Salads which probably put her onto 20 veg.fruit for that day!
We walked back to the apartment , via another bar… and a bath, for a good night’s sleep.
