Off to Latitude minus one

We had booked tickets to Latitude back in January and were very much looking forward to it. Our friends Caroline and Chris had also got tickets so it was shaping up to be a lovely sociable occasion.

Sue got back from staying with her parents on the Saturday before the festival, her mother like mine had been in hospital after a fall, and the next day she started coughing quite badly. The plan was to go up and visit my mum the day before latitude, as it is almost on the way and then stay in a Suffolk campsite the night before Latitude with Caroline and Chris. On Monday Sue had been coughing so much so I suggested she take a Covid test Sadly this turned out to be positive. Luckily, as she had been coughing a lot,  I had been staying well away from her and I tested negative. So we decided that just I would still go, but not visit my mother as she was still in hospital.  So I packed up the van, said my farewell to Susan and set off up the M3 for the long drive (I have forgotten how far it is) to Suffolk. While travelling, using voice messaging via Siri, I pinged Carolie and was shocked ad impressed to find out that they had set off at 5 o’clock in the morning and were already in Suffolk, visiting Aldeburgh.

Aldeburgh is a place we used to go to every year when I was a boy with my family, so knew it very well. I was very keen to go test out my new drone taking some video footage of the Martello tower.  My father used to walk there every morning, when we were in Aldeburgh, in fact his ashes are scattered by the beach next to it.

So when I arrived, I parked up to the south of Alborough and walked along to the Martello Tower. I had a quick chat with the environment agency people who were painting lines along the seawall and then proceeded to shoot some footage. I even had my first drone landing accident, but no damage done. After that, I set off up to the campsite where I met up with Caroline and Chris and had a very chilled relaxing evening.  For dinner, we had some Aktar at home curry that Richard had provided me with for doing some work on his mystery and adventure games Limited Halloween game, which at some point you will be able to buy!

After a decaff coffee we all retired to our vans where I rang poor Sue for a catch-up and to see how she was doing. Hopefully she will get a clear test soon!
