Sunday – Storm Darragh – the Aftermath

I got up early on Sunday morning and made the fire. I also went and moved the van, as when we had a ride home from the pub the village, despite the lack of power, had a quiz night and all of the parking had been taken, so I had to park it on a road to Junction which might have been a bit risky. While I was moving it, I decided to get the kettle to see if I could boil some water on the wood burner.

I successfully managed to get it boiling and made Sue and I a cup of tea, and just at that point the power came back on. This was quite a relief as we still had our Aktar at Home curry left to eat and we didn’t want to waste it. Luckily, the fridge had stayed cold the whole time and nothing had got too warm so we think it was all safe.

After we all got up we decided to go down to the craft market in Tintern. The weather, while still a bit windy was bright and clear. We drove, the direct route this time, down there. As expected it was pretty deserted, mainly as there was a tree down on the main road into the village. However, a couple of the shops were open and we actually bought a couple of shirts , some chamois leathers and a few other bits. Hopefully that made it worthwhile opening the shop.

We hung around a bit and I got a couple of nice photos of the river. We went back up and had another massive curry! Thank you Aktar at Home.

Sam and Harriet headed off to Brighton and we played Mycelia. Sand I got thrashed by the resident experts, but it is a great game!

To be honest I cannot remember what we had for tea… probably more curry. The next morning we headed off to Hereford to see Collin and Jane.
