After spending the last three days packing and checking through the van, we finally set off in the early evening to get the ferry at Portsmouth. We had a bit of a long wait, the highlight of which was when about 10 Porsche Cars drove onto the ferry and the guy directing the car says “blimey there’s a lot of small penises here today. “
We eventually boarded, in the end, very smoothly. We went to the cabin and to get things organised. When we heard the engines power up and the boat to start to move we went out onto the deck.
We just caught the end of the sunset, I have never seen Portsmouth look this attractive 😀.
The tug was pulling the bow round, against the backdrop of Portsmouth harbour, lit up in the gloaming.
Once the ferry's orientation was set the tug departed and we were on our way
We sailed out of the harbour with marvellous views of the historic dockyard.
And, of course, the Spinnaker Tower! As we sailed out into the Solent we retired to the bar and had a celebratory drink.
